  • Follow these carpet care tips to keep your carpet looking its best in between professional carpet cleanings.

    • Heavy traffic areas, such as halls and doorways, should be thoroughly vacuumed 2 to 3 times a week, and the rest of your carpet once a week.
    • The use of an indoor and outdoor mat can greatly reduce the soil load tracked into your home.
    • Adopting a no-shoe policy will dramatically decrease the amount of oil loving soils that are tracked in and increase the time between required professional carpet cleanings.
    • When treating spots and spills, its best to use club-soda or plain water. You can make your own spot removing product by mixing ¼ teaspoon bleach-free liquid detergent with 1 cup cold water. Be warned, this may leave a soapy residue that could make the spot worse over time.
    • Re-apply stain-resistant protector to your carpet regularly and after cleanings; the original protection naturally wears down over time.
    • To prevent permanent damage always clean up spills as soon as they are noticed. The longer a substance stays in the carpet, the harder it becomes to remove. Remember, stain-resistant does not mean stain-proof.
    • If you do choose to use an over the counter spot cleaning product be sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first. If there is any color transfer onto your towel the product should not be used on that type of carpet.
    • Test area rugs for colorfastness before placing them over your carpet or hardwood floors. Some rugs may bleed their colors.
    • Leave the protective foam blocks in place for a full day after a carpet cleaning. This helps to avoid any color transfer from your furniture to the floor.
    • Clean your furniture and your carpet at the same time. A professional cleaning gets rid of the everyday dirt and soil.
